8 long months..

It has been 8 months to the day since Ive blogged last. The last 8 months have been pretty crazy for the Lemon household. My husband got out of the Army 7 months ago and its been a challenge to get back on our feet. We are now slowly getting there. We moved into our apartment a little over a month ago and we are really loving it here. It has been great to have our things back and just in our own space. It was really hard sharing 1 bedroom with my husband and daughter for 6 months. But we made it!

My daughter and I after feeding ducks at the Pond

Ive thought about bloging again but wast sure if i wanted to and if it was worth it. Our lives have changed so much and I want to share in my experiences in life and have my daughter be able to look back at this blog to see her life. She will always be able to see the things she has done in life.
Going to feed the ducks, we do this a lot.

In the next few days I will post about our new apartment and just our everyday lives. Im excited to start documenting our lives again.

Why Hello there

Ive taken a tiny break the last week or so. Not to much has happened around here. Nothing crafty going on beside getting everything ready for Makenzis birthday party next weekend. But we did have some very nice weather this past week. We went to the park and just spent most the days out and about.
I probably wont be bloging this week unless something comes up. We will be taking a trip home to Oklahoma this weekend for Makenzis birthday and birthday party.

Enjoy your weekend.

Tic-Tac-Toe Valentine shirt (pattern)

Firstly, im so sorry. I wanted to do a full tutorial on how do do this but a few things happened in the process and I just couldn't keep up with pictures.

Have you heard of Freezer Paper Stencilling? Its pretty awesome. I've not done to much with it but ive really been wanting to. I saw a shirt a few weeks back with a Tic-Tac-Toe design, I liked the concept of the design just not the shirt its self. So I decided I would try and make one.  Here is a really great video on freezer paper stencilling.  You can get my tic-tac-toe design here.

The first thing that stopped me from taking pictures was I could not cut out the stencil right. I tried 3 times and finally got it. I don't know what was wrong with me.

Second. I had just finished painting on the hearts and X's I walked away from the table ( I left the paint, cause I was going to touch it up when it dried with a 2nd coat) I did have the though of "I should not leave that there", but I said no to my self, Makenzi was sitting with her daddy and was being good. Not even 2min later I hear "Mommy wipe, Mommy wipe" I knew INSTANTLY what she had done. She had got up on the chair and dipped her finger in the purple paint and used the shirt as a wipe. I stood there for a min just in shock, Makenzi was freaking out cause her hand was dirty, of course I cleaned her up first.

I then stood there trying to figure out what I was going to do. Should i just throw it away and go get a new white shirt? Should I try and fix it? Well me being me I did try and fix it. I got it almost completely out! I was so glad. I spent 5min scrubbing it, i let the staind part soak for about 5min being very carful not to get the design and wet paint wet. I let the paint try as much as i could and heat set it and threw it in the washer. I let it lay flat to dry. When it dried you couldn't even really see where the stain was. Im so glad. I did have to touch up the paint some but its good as new!
after seeing this close up i have fixed the un-even lines

Here is a close up of the stain, see you really cant see it.
you can click on the image to see it closer.

Ruffle Heart Shirt {Tutorial}

This past fall when i was going through and washing all the winter clothes I had for Makenzi I found these tights. They had little red hearts on them. They were just to adorable. I didn't think much of it after all valentines day was months away.

In January i found this tulle skirt at walmart and this idea started brewing in my head. I knew the tights would be amazing with that tulle skirt.. but i didn't have a shirt. I knew i wanted to keep it simple. I have this crazy obsession with ruffles lately so one night i had this idea to do a ruffle red heart on a plain white shirt. PERFECT match!

My little model didn't want to corporate with me today..this is the best i got.

So do you want to make one? Let me show you!

What you need:
shirt to fit your kiddo
fabric
heart pattern here
disappearing ink pin
matching and matching thread

Cut your fabric 20in x 2 1/4inch
Fold wrong sides together, (i always iron so its a nice stitch) and sew
Turn your tube right side out and iron with the seam on the back side.

Next take your heart pattern and trace it onto the shirt with your disappearing ink pen
I know looks scary huh? Dont worry, it will go away with water!
Before you do the gathering stitch on your fabric I always clip the ends, It folds back nicely so there are no showing frays and there is a nice clean fold.
The easiest way to do a gathering stitch is put your machine on the longest stitch you can and then sew. DO NOT BACK STITCH on either ends. Try to leave a good bit of thread so you can gather. Take your bottom thread and pull gently and gather. It does take practice. Im just now getting good at it and its been a while since ive first done it.
After you have done your gathering. Pin your ruffle onto your shirt following the heart pattern.
(special thanks to my husband for taking a picture for me)

I didnt take a picture of the sewing process cause i just did it fast without thinking. But just sew it on there following your heart pattern.
and this is what you will have!

I love how it came out. It was perfect for what i was wanting. its simple but still stands out and looks adorable on!
Let me know if you try this, i would love to see it!
If you have any comments or questions PLEASE let me know!

Blizzard!!!!

We were hit with a nice little Blizzard today. It was nice to have my husband stuck home with me and just be lazy around the house.
First we got about 3 inches of ice. This is what we woke up to.

Then around 1pm we had got lots more ice and it had started to snow, BIG TIME.

The boys LOVE the snow, they could stay out all day! We didnt get out and play today cause it was way to windy and snowy. But tomorrow is another snow day!

For dinner I made some YUMMY Baked Potato Soup.

This was Makenzis first time having it and she didnt like it very much.

Makenzi spent the day riding around her "mo mo" as she calls it.
I will have a tutorial on how to make this shirt hopefully tomorrow.
I really love how great it turned out.
All in all we had a great snow day! Hope everyone is warm and snugly inside.
